Louvre in Abu Dhabi is one of those places you cannot miss not only because of the exhibits inside but also, or some even say mainly because of the impressive building itself.

The works on display, ranging from prehistoric artifacts to contemporary works of art, come from all over the world, but great emphasis has been placed on bridging the gap between the East and West. Many of the museum's masterpieces are on loan from some of the most famous French museums in the world, including the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay and the Pompidou Center in Paris.

There is also the Children's Museum, which hosts family exhibitions and interactive workshops. The aim is to inspire and stimulate the creativity of young minds by learning various artistic techniques. Louvre building designed by an architect Jean Nouvel, Pritzker Prize winner, includes 9,200 m2 of galleries, including permanent and temporary exhibits. Nouvel designed the wave-inspired water system operating in the museum, while the idea of the dome itself, 180 meters in diameter, was taken from the interwoven palm leaves traditionally used as roofing material in many regions of the country.

It is decorated with 7,850 stars, the largest of which measures 13 meters and weighs 1.3 tons. This unique design creates an enchanting play of light and shadow in the museum courtyard at the right time. The sun's rays are reflected in the water, reflecting on the white walls of the museum, falling through the 9-layer openwork dome. The white shape, with all its modernity and minimalism, refers to the typical architecture of the Arab medina, and the surrounding pools open up the whole to the Persian Gulf.
